Diane Gelman is a Strategic Transformation Expert at Reference Point with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. She is known for her ability to grasp salient issues quickly and to embrace change. Diane has a knack for making the complex simple, for converting strategic concepts into executable work efforts – and for explaining it all in language that her audience understands. Diane is valued for delivering results in a collaborative and inclusive manner that engenders trust and followership.
Prior to Reference Point, Diane held senior positions at TIAA, Credit Suisse, and JP Morgan Chase.
As Chief Operating Officer for TIAA’s Institutional business and Chief of Staff to its CEO, Diane guided the formulation of strategy and delivered crisp and insightful updates to key stakeholders. She launched a business sponsored Change Management function that monitored and evaluated change effectiveness and enhanced adoption success of new business capabilities. She relentlessly drove prioritization of the business’ strategic program portfolio, reducing continued investment in low yielding efforts.
As Chief Operating Officer for TIAA’s IT organization, Diane designed and established the Chief Operating Office function, which delivered transparency into IT expenditures and affirmed the value delivered by the IT organization; the processes and governance built became the model for the enterprise.
In previous roles, Diane led major transformational programs as well as functional areas such as middle office operations, technology product management, financial planning & analysis, sourcing, and corporate real estate. Diane is passionate about developing talent, driving for engagement and performance and spends her free time coaching and mentoring individuals and teams.
Diane holds a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Diane and her husband, Michael, live in Montclair, NJ and have 4 young adult children.
