Gerard Callaghan is an Engagement Managing Director at Reference Point with over 40 years of experience supporting various financial services firms, retaining a proven track record in identifying risks, driving change, and delivering results. He has a strong reputation for attracting and developing talented staff, understanding business and operational risk, and implementing process redesign. Gerard’s career highlights include leading the restructuring of several financial operations & technology organizations, the establishment of industry leading risk management programs, the enablement of process improvements and productivity gains, and delivering both critical technology and complex new product initiatives.

Gerard previously served as a Managing Director for Bank of America in several roles, including Global Markets Technology & Operations Executive, Transition Change Executive, and Head of Investment Operations – Global Wealth & Investment Management. In these roles, he ensured implementation and compliance of Bank of America’s risk management policies, procedures, and standards; served in a leadership role for the Bank of America / Merrill Lynch integration team; and managed support for institutional investment management, retail brokerage, and investment product solutions. Prior to Bank of America, Gerard was an Executive Vice President & Managing Director for United States Trust Company as Head of Operations, and before, Chief Information Officer. He also served as a Managing Director at Bankers Trust Company in Global Investment Management and Global Custody, and as a Managing Director at Citigroup for Operations and Technology within the Corporate and Investment Bank.

Gerard’s extensive experience in financial services has allowed him to become a leader across investment operations, risk management, and technology domains. He is also a past member of the New York Clearing House – Security Policy Committee, the Securities Industry Association – T+1 Steering Committee, and the DTCC Operations Advisory Committee.
