Project Overview

To ensure compliance with policies, risk requirements, and regulatory commitments, the Client established a Hygiene program within their technology divisions. The Hygiene program targets applications no longer supported by the firm due to their end-of-life (EOL) operating systems. The team is responsible for technical scope assessments as well as strategic project intake, prioritization, and management, with regular reporting to various risk committees due to the firm’s zero-tolerance policy for EOL applications. The Client sought strategic support and surge capacity from Reference Point during a multi-merger integration environment to drive forward the Hygiene program during a period of increased demand as well as identify opportunities to scale the program in the future. Reference Point’s support across the Wealth Management Technology division enabled the Client to accelerate progress to achieve compliance with heightened standards and ongoing commitments.


  • Reference Point deployed a strategic technology consultant / project manager to provide surge capacity to the existing client team and advise on target state program evolution. Reference Point established a formal management process within the program, organizing and facilitating strategic stakeholder meetings, memorializing decisions, actions, and dependences, and managing end-to-end project delivery.
  • Reference Point assumed ownership of key projects and coordinated efforts across multiple divisions to ensure firm and regulatory commitments were met on time and within budget. To improve visibility into program status and risk, Reference Point created enhanced reporting tools which consolidated numerous data sources into a streamlined source of truth. Outputs were regularly reported to senior management to inform status across the Hygiene program and identify areas of escalation.


  • Streamlined the intake, assessment, roll-out, and tracking of projects through implementation of enhanced reporting tools, increasing efficiency, reducing redundancy, and improving overall reporting quality.
  • Enabled and instilled accountability within project teams and across divisions through increased visibility into project status and effective reporting of key risks and issues, providing teams with the tools and resources to execute efficiently.
  • With Reference Point’s support, the Hygiene program expanded to support additional regulatory commitment efforts and other high-visibility programs requiring oversight. Continued expansion is attributed to the implementation of a strong foundational program structure as well as the application of accelerators and routines.
