Karen Villella is a Manager at Reference Point with extensive experience in strategy and analytics initiatives in the financial services industry spanning Technology, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Technology, and Partnership Portfolios, with roles spanning marketing strategy, campaign management, customer acquisition, marketing technology implementation, and financial planning and analysis.
Prior to joining Reference Point, Karen held several roles in strategy, analytics, and finance with Capital One and JBG Smith. Karen recently completed a full financial reground on a $700MM Cloud budget. Earlier projects included the design and launch of a digital marketing strategy for a co-branded credit product (with a Fortune 10 company), the negotiation and re-launch of a third party sales channel in support of portfolio growth, and the launch and analytics on acquisition tactics in digital social channels. Karen’s experience prior to Capital One focused on real estate finance and development, with work in market due diligence, pro forma and investor waterfall builds, and housing finance regulations.
Karen holds a JD from the University of Virginia’s School of Law, an MBA from UVA’s Darden Graduate School of Business, and a BS in Civil Engineering from UVA. Karen is an active member of the Maryland State Bar and a Sustainer in the Junior League of Washington. Outside of work, Karen enjoys exploring the outdoors, drinking great coffee, and spending time with her husband and three children.
